First stop was Espanola, then onto the gorgeous Pukaskwa (pronounced puck-a-saw) National Park which wraps around Lake Superior. This is one of the most beautiful parks I have ever seen, with crisp aqua green water on the lake. Luckily Morley was prepared, and clapped his hands and sang songs for most of the trail to keep bears at bay.
Thunder Bay was an experience, lets hope it is the first and last time we stay in a Psych hospital! The walks were amazing, around Boulevard Lake and the boardwalk on Lake Superior, and dinner at Henry and Berle’s was about a 30 out of 30 on the Zagat rating (5 star in our books).
Winnipeg was wonderful staying at Mark’s cousin John and Anke’s place, and seeing their son Mehru again. We have been lucky enough for them to visit us in Australia, it was our turn to see their home town. The Forks were really cool, as was the walkway one floor above ground level joining all of the shops and city attractions near Aunty Bunt’s place.
The prairies were really something to be seen, Big Sky doesn’t quite do it justice, the huge wind farms of Saskatchewan were really cool as well. But my favourite part of the trip was pulling into Banff, home sweet home.
