WE’VE HAD 3 DAYS IN A ROW OF SUNSHINE!! The snow has come again, it’s minus 11 degrees in Vancouver this morning, which is very chilly, but lovely with the snow outside. This week has been good for those that live in the city, not so good in the suburbs. My friend Natalie that works with me had a 3.5 hour drive home on Wednesday night due to snow causing multiple accidents on the roads, normally it takes her 45 mins.
Vancouver has a really cool concept for the slow end of January and February period with 150 restaurants participating in the ‘Dine Out Vancouver’ experience. The restaurants put a set course together (with options) for either $15, $25 or $35, plus they have an option for a set wine pairing, and of course, Mission Hill features strongly with this. The BC Wine Institute sponsors this event so the restaurants have to pair with BC wine. We were invited for the media launch which was a lot of fun, and out of 50 chefs in the photo they zoomed in on four of us in the Metro newspaper, plus they even got Mission Hill and myself in the print! Not bad for some free advertising.
We also took the opportunity at work to take the Whistler Blackcomb Food and Beverage guys to our box at the Hockey (translation for Australians is Ice Hockey, the Canadian national pride). It was really a lot of fun, I still believe that hockey is the best spectator sport in the world. The ‘no-luck’ Canucks were true to form, losing to the Minnesota Wild. To see all the photos click here. I was very glad to go with work, let alone in a box, as the tickets if you can get them are around $150 for the nose bleed section (so high in the stand that you get a nose bleed).
This week will be very busy, as we are presenting out JFM (translation Jan, Feb, Mar activities) to the sales teams in Calgary on Monday, Vancouver Tuesday, and Toronto on Thursday – but I’ll be flying most of Wednesday to Toronto. This also gives me the opportunity to go out with a Sales Rep for the day on Friday, then have a girls weekend with Janet on the weekend, and fly back to Vancouver Sunday afternoon!
No question for the week this week, as I am still working on my presentation for tomorrow.
A was the answer to last weeks quiz, the junior hockey team are on a roll!
